Hot trend: Quilting
Previously the fare of grandmothers' beds the world over, the patchwork quilt is now making a stand on the catwalks, being showcased by the likes of Chanel, Marc Jacobs, Burberry, Miu Miu and Balmain.
Fashionistas can get their hands on bags, jackets and even wellington boots and, those who are brave enough can also take a leaf out of Alexa Chung's fashion bible and dress from head to foot in the style, the Daily Mail reports.
For designers, the paper observed: "Quilting is usually less about the ragtag approach and more about the sort of texture that Chanel made a signature of the line."
It went on to suggest that anyone searching for inspiration head to the Victoria & Albert from March 20th onwards, as the museum is holding an exhibition of British patchworks, featuring 65 such quilts, including a bedcover linked to King Charles II's stay in an Exeter manor house during the 17th century.
