Beth Ditto launches Evans fashion line

Larger than life singer and emerging style icon Beth Ditto launched her first ever clothing line for plus-size fashion store Evans last night.

The 28-year-old was the special guest at a party at Sketch in London thrown by Topshop's Sir Philip Green in honour of her new endeavour into the fashion world.

Instead of presenting the clothes on mannequins, Ditto reportedly arranged to have real women take to the catwalk and model them.

Party organiser Richard Mortimer told Grazia: "We asked London's East End's coolest-looking bigger girls to wear the collection.

"Beth insisted on it, saying she wanted the clothes brought to life and not on mannequins."

This was a fashion event of major proportions, with guests including leading figures from the industry such as Kate Moss, Christopher Kane, Charles Anastase and Roland Mouret.

Meanwhile, GQ magazine's Alex Blimes recently accused the fashion industry of using Ditto as an overweight smokescreen to disguise the fact that it is skinny-obsessed.
